Is my town available and viable?
man and women bakery owners holding loaves of bread outside their bakeryIs the area you are considering within 15 miles of another Great Harvest bakery? Use our Franchise Locator to check. If there is not a Great Harvest bakery within 15 miles, then it's most likely available.

Bakery Locator

If you are not sure if an area is available, please e-mail Dawn Eisenzimer with up to three intersections of major streets with corresponding zip codes (ex: Idaho St. and Glendale St., 59725) which represent retail areas in your town. These intersections are just geographic points for us to plot on a map, and do not need to correlate with locations that are available for lease.

We use demographic criteria to determine if a town is potentially viable. Generally, we're looking for areas with 40,000 people in a five-mile radius. Under the right circumstances, we have considered smaller areas.

Here are some areas that we are frequently asked about, but are unavailable for new locations:
  • Anchorage, AK and surrounding areas (Wasilla and Eagle River do not meet our demographic requirements)
  • Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN metropolitan area
  • Portland, OR metropolitan area
  • Salt Lake City, UT and surrounding areas (nothing available between Logan and Provo). We are not accepting applications for Park City, UT
  • Seattle metropolitan area
If you are interested in a new franchise opportunity, please contact Dawn Eisenzimer. If you would like to learn more about existing bakeries that are currently for sale, please contact Sally Munday.
