September Specials

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur!

Every year for Rosh Hashanah we make Round Challah loaves in Plain or Cinnamon Chip Raisin to usher in a sweet New Year! This year Rosh Hashanah will begin at Sundown on Friday September 11 and end at nightfall on Sunday September 13.

We will also bake Round Cinnamon Chip Raisin Challah on Saturday the 19th to break the fast for Yom Kippur on Monday the 21st.

For both of these holiday bakes it is best to pre-order by calling 319-826-6357. The pre-order deadline for Rosh Hashanah is Wednesday the 9th. We will bake the round loaves Thursday the 10th.

Deadline for pre-orders for the Yom Kippur bake is Friday the 18th. We would appreciate more advance notice so that we can be sure we are prepped for whatever Challah batch we need (lots of eggs to crack and need to be sure we have enough raisins.)

Breakfast Sandwiches at the Bakery!

We are introducing a breakfast sandwich special in September on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Our version is made with a soft potato bun (toasted), an Egg, Slice of cheese (Swiss, Cheddar or Provolone) and two pieces of bacon. Dion's home-made orange marmalade sets our breakfast sandwich apart from all others! These sandwiches have been extensively quality tested here at the bakery.

We will extend beyond Tuesday and Wednesday mornings if we get a good response and hope to carry the sandwiches on beyond September, but hurry in to try them while they are definitely on the menu!

Afternoon Tea

Tea for Two available any time without reservation. Two of you can share any sandwich off the menu cut into quarters and presented on our 3 tiered trays together with two full sized sweets of your choice also cut into quarters. You may choose a 6 cup pot of tea to share or two 2 cup pots.

Feel free to phone ahead and reserve space so that we can set you up without any wait at your table with a table cloth. We can also discuss special dietary needs or adjustments to the standard Tea for Two. Tea for Two is a full service experience for $35.00 (gratuity not included).

We also offer Periodic Afternoon Tea events by reservation only. Our usual Afternoon Tea formal menu will include 3 types of finger sandwiches and garnishes and 3 types of sweets as well as house made clotted cream for your scones.

This is an extraordinary treat to share with someone special. Plan to have plenty of time to relax and chat. Our setting is more casual than some tea rooms, but this is a delicious way to treat a guest! Pricing varies depending on menu, but generally will be around $28.00 per person. We hope to schedule an event next in September.
